1976–2007 President and sole proprietor of JLGarnier Painting- a custom, fine home painting service
1980-1984 Instructor of French and French Literature at Irvine Valley College, Irvine, CA
1976-1980 Instructor of French and French Literature at Saddleback College, Mission Viejo, CA
1969-1971 Teaching Assistant and Reader for various classes in French and
French Literature at University of California, Santa Barbara

The Beach Project
Started in 2002 and still ongoing
Commissioned and funded by The Southeast Museum of Photography, Daytona Beach, Florida: (the accompanying California beach photography was done with assistance from The California Museum of Photography and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art which purchased this portfolio for their Permanent Collection)

The Legacy Project
A fifteen-year artistic/documentary response to the transformation of Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, the largest military base ever closed, into a 4,000 acre urban park and development.
